Happy Valentine's Day! Valentine's isn't really a thing in Sweden, or rather, it is - but that is only because of our love for all things American. It has nothing to do with tradition or anything. Either way, I love it, because I love all reasons to celebrate love. Yes, I am a sap like that. And I think this applies to everybody you love, not just your potential partner/significant other. Spread the love!
Last Saturday I spread some dark love at a costume party. Me and my friend Sofia are huge costume party nerds, so we take any chance we get to make outfits and costumes and plan and discuss. And party, ofc. So when the annual Dark Valentine's Party kicked off this weekend we were so there. Before we got there, though, we hung out in my studio to get ready and take some photos. I thought I might show you!
So Sofia was a dark witch type figure trying to cast a spell on her potential lover (see photograph). I was a murderess carrying her latest prize as a hat. I was gonna bring a bloody knife too but realised it might not be popular with the bouncers at the club, so decided against it. I made the heart shaped (lol) hat with paper maché, painted it with acrylics and glued it to an alice band. Done! I really LOVE how it turned out, and will keep it for future Halloween looks. We had so much fun at the party and can't wait for the next one.
Now I'm off to pick up Arthur at doggy daycare, and then I'm off on a date. Hope you're spending today the way you want to. - Emily
